The Land Information Council of Jamaica

	The Ministry of Agriculture/ Land Information Council of Jamaica through the Spatial Data Management Division (SDMD) provides GIS technical support for the preparation of maps and undertakes vasiours types of spatial analysis for both private and government entities. 	Map Creation
	As the secretariat to the Council the division provides assistance in the creation of maps and the development of GIS applications to assist in the execution of the operations of both private and public entities.

	IKONOS		Land Use
	A number of maps have also been created for students’ research projects with the use of the IKONOS images and 1 in 50,000 maps using information collected in the field. The map is an example which shows the inundated area of Montego Bay caused by the flooding of the north gully		Map of Agricultural lands across Jamaica, based on the landuse dataset from the Rural Physical Planning Division The agricultural lands have been grouped accroding to type crop being cultivated.
